Irish woman in Valencia describes scenes of 'massive flooding'
An Irish woman living in flood-hit Valencia described scenes of "massive flooding" across southeastern Spain.
Alexandra Philpin, from Donabate in Co Dublin, said she first heard about the weather situation on Monday.
She said that where she is in Valenica city centre, is not "too badly affected" - trees are down but not the flooding there has been in other parts of the city.
Ms Philpin described "massive flooding, roads have been cut off, cars going through the streets, huge damage to infrastructure in terms of public transport...and electricity - a lot of towns are cut off and some towns have also lost access to drinking water".
Animals have also been killed "or are in danger" and animal shelters have put out emergency appeals for support and volunteers.
In other situations, residents who went to work yesterday remain stuck in Valencia, cut off from their towns, unable to return home.
She added that homes and property have been destroyed in the floods, "really upsetting scenes".
