Elections 2024: Fingal County Council round-up
The success of the non-traditional parties is the big story for Fingal County Council, with Aontú securing two of the four seats they campaigned for and the National Party's Patrick Quinlan securing a seat in Blanchardstown-Mulhuddart.
While Fianna Fáil spearheaded Fingal's electorate, the race for second place was tied between Fine Gael and the Independents, each receiving 16.4% of the first preference votes.
Fianna Fáil's campaign was overall, a success, garnering 17.1% of first preference votes, but the party suffered the loss of Fingal's mayor Adrian Henchy from Rush-Lusk.
In former taoiseach Leo Varadkar's LEA of Castleknock, Fine Gael's campaign proved successful, with both candidates retaining their seats.
