Parnell Square attack 'particularly distressing' - Catholic Archbishop
The Catholic Archbishop of Dublin has described the attack on Parnell Square involving innocent victims including children as "particularly distressing".
Archbishop Dermot Farrell said there was no way to escape the pain and suffering it had brought to so many people.
"We do not expect events like this to happen so close to home", he said.
The Dublin Archbishop commended the emergency services and An Garda Síochána for their "diligence in responding to this terrible event today".
He said he was praying for the injured and their families and all those affected.
In a statement, he invited the people of Dublin to join him in praying, especially for the recovery of those who have been injured.
