A Palestinian-Irish doctor who is working in Gaza's largest hospital says it has been hit "aggressively and continuously" over the past three days, and those there are desperate for someone to "stop this massacre".
Dr Ahmed El Mokhallalati, a senior plastic surgeon who has been working at Al-Shifa Hospital, also said that they work with the "constant" noise of explosions in the background.
He said that there was more than 2,000 patients being treated at the hospital a few days ago, but it has since dropped to around 700 because patients are fleeing.
Dr El Mokhallalati said around 80% of civilians who had been taking shelter at the hospital have decided to leave, while some patients have also left "with wounds open" and still in need of surgery.
"This is the biggest hospital in Gaza, with more than 63 patients in the ICU who need ventilators and more than 40 patients in incubators. Now we have no more than 700 patients in the hospital."
He said a number of workers also left, and some of the main theatres have closed due to lack of power while the main water well serving the hospital was hit yesterday, meaning they have no water.
He added that only life-saving procedures are being provided in a bid to ration what vital resources they have.
Dr El Mokhallalati criticised Israel after it said it would help evacuate the hospital, saying that they received no plan on how that would be carried out.
He said the hospital should be protected and be able to get supports, but it hasn't been able to.
"The hospital is totally surrounded by Israeli tanks, we can constantly hear in the background but on the other side it is totally covered by drones.
"We need someone to stop this massacre, we need someone to stop and get our patients out so we can leave the hospital and see our families.
"It is a total disaster - the situation, we need someone to support us and stop this."
