Tánaiste appeals for 'honest debate' on flood relief schemes
The Tánaiste has appealed for "balance and perspective" from those who are objecting to flood relief schemes in Cork and "an honest debate" on the issue.
"The funding is there, the schemes are designed, but it's just taking far too long in terms of the planning process - in my view - and objections", Micheál Martin told the Dáil.
He said that there has been flooding in Cork since he was growing up, but noted that where flood relief schemes had been implemented, "in Fermoy, and Mallow", they are effective.
