The Tánaiste has said there is a €10 million humanitarian fund in place to help committees hit by flooding.
Micheál Martin told the Dáil that Government would examine the situation on the ground in Midleton to see what additional help it can provide.
He paid tribute to Sarsfields GAA club who opened up their pitch to save a housing estate and he pledged that Government would support the club.
Sinn Féin's Pearse Doherty said the Government most offer the community in Midleton its full support to repair homes and businesses.
All necessary funding must be available without delay and there must be an end to technical delays to flood schemes in Cork, he said.
