Kelly says never availed of anything paid for through barter account

Sinn Féin TD John Brady asks about Noel Kelly's relationship with outgoing Commercial Director Geraldine O'Leary, as well as whether he had availed of any benefits from RTÉ through the barter account.

"I wouldn't have a relationship. That's commercial," he said of Ms O'Leary, "this is the only commercial thing we've done. I'd be dealing more with the Managing Director of TV"

Mr Brady asked: "Did you avail of any of the events paid for through the barter account?"

Mr KElly said: "To be honest with you, I don't go out. I've never been entertained by RTÉ and it's not something I'm interested in.

Asked by Mr Brady if any NK management staff members had availed of any such events, Mr Kelly said "no".

When asked if RTÉ had ever received anything similar from NK management, Mr Kelly said: "Christmas Cards".

In relation to the €75,000 payments, Mr Brady said that "ignorance is no defence", and asked whether in hindsight if Mr Kelly thought he did his job?

"In any time we act in total transparency", Mr Kelly said.
