The Taoiseach has reiterated his confidence in Garda Commissioner Nóirín O'Sullivan.

Enda Kenny was responding to the Labour Leader Brendan Howlin during Leaders Questions in the Dáil.

Mr Howlin asked Mr Kenny if the Government continued to have confidence in An Garda Síochána management in light of what is now known.

He also asked if the recommendations of the Garda Inspectorate would be implemented and if the Taoiseach agreed that changes to the powers of the Policing Authority were required.

The Taoiseach said he had confidence in the Commissioner who is seeing changes recommended independently being "rolled out and timelined".
