John Stephens has been selected as the Fianna Fáil candidate for the Dublin Central by-election.
He was selected at a party convention this evening.
Mr Stephens has worked in administration in the Mater Hospital for 25 years and was elected to Dublin City Council in 2024.
He represents the Cabra-Glasnevin Local Electoral Area and currently serves as Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin.
Other declared candidates include Dublin's Lord Mayor and Fine Gael Councillor Ray McAdam, Green Party Councillor Janet Horner, Councillor Daniel Ennis for the Social Democrats and Sinn Féín Councillor Janice Boylan.
The Labour Party selected Ruth O'Dea to contest the election, People Before Profit-Solidarity is running Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin, while Aontú's candidate will be Ian Noel Smyth.
Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch and Councillor Malachy Steenson have also said they will run again.
