Protesters calling for the Occupied Territories Bill to be passed by the Oireachtas have staged a day-long protest outside of Leinster House.

Demonstrators, many carrying Palestinian flags, are standing on either side of Kildare Street but the street remains open to traffic.

Throughout the day, the protesters have been calling and chanting for the bill to be brought forward and passed by the Dáil.

They heard a number of speakers and performers, including Senator Frances Black, the originator of the bill.

Protesters also called for services to be included in the bill as well as goods, something the Government has said is under review.

This evening a Goverment spokeperson said they approved the draft Occupied Territories Bill in June 2025 to ban imports from Israeli settlements, in line with Programme for Government commitments.

However, the spokeperson added that legal complexities, particularly around services under EU law, are still being examined with the Attorney General, while work continues domestically and at EU level, with a preference for collective EU action.
