Minister for Housing James Browne will this week announce the first call for projects under the Government's new Housing Infrastructure Investment Fund.
The €1 billion fund aims to unlock housing sites across the country.
It will focus on infrastructure projects that can eliminate obstacles to the building of homes.
The chosen projects will have to be completed quickly.
This week will see a call for projects from councils and the Land Development Agency.
