Independent candidate Aubrey McCarthy has secured the final seat in the Dublin University/Trinity College constituency in the Seanad elections.
Mr McCarthy, who founded the drugs rehabilitation charity Tiglin, was deemed elected following a full recount which was requested by Green Party candidate Hazel Chu.
Ms Chu made the request as a small number of votes separated her and Mr McCarthy.
After the recount, Mr McCarthy was left with 3,770 votes to Ms Chu's 3,706 votes.
Independent candidates Lynn Ruane and Tom Clonan were elected to the constituency yesterday.
Ms Chu's Green Party colleague Malcolm Noonan has also been elected to the Seanad after topping the poll on the Agricultural Panel.
Joanne Collins and Victor Boyhan have also been deemed elected for that panel.
Yesterday, Independents Rónán Mullen, Alice Mary Higgins and Michael McDowell were re-elected to the Seanad on the National University of Ireland panel.
Sinn Féin's Pauline Tully was also elected on the Cultural & Educational panel, as well as Cathal Byrne, Shane Curley, Seán Kyne and Joe Conway.
