Stardust survivor and campaigner Antoinette Keegan is to contest the general election for the National Party in the Fingal East constituency.
She said she was running to highlight the lack of government action on the payment of redress to survivors and families of the fire tragedy.
Ms Keegan said "not one red cent" has been paid to families or survivors and this was a concern ahead of the current government's term coming to an end.
She said she has been in touch with the Taoiseach in recent days about the issue but it has not been resolved to her satisfaction.
She said she is not running in her home constituency because there are too many candidates but that she is running in the new Fingal East constituency.
Wexford councillor resigns from Fianna Fáil
Meanwhile, New Ross Councillor Michael Sheehan has announced his resignation from Fianna Fáil and will now stand as an Independent candidate in Wexford in the upcoming general election.
Cllr Sheehan has been a member of Fianna Fáil for almost three decades and has been a councillor for 25 years.
This decision, he said, was made after "careful consideration" and "a desire to better represent the needs and concerns of the people of New Ross Town and District".
Mr Sheehan received 4,366 first preference votes when he ran as a Fianna Fáil candidate in the Wexford constituency in the 2020 general election.
"This decision was not made lightly, but it became clear that to achieve real progress and deliver meaningful change, I must act independently," he said.
