TV presenter Gráinne Seoige will stand for Fianna Fáil in Galway West in the upcoming general election.
At a party convention in Oughterard tonight, Ms Seoige and Cllr John Connolly were both selected to stand in the five-seater constituency.
Eight candidates had originally got nominations to go before the convention but during the week six of them withdrew their names.
Fianna Fáil's strategy in Galway West is to stand two candidates as they seek to retain the seat held by retiring TD Éamon Ó Cuív.
