Fine Gael TD for Kerry Brendan Griffin has said that it remains his position that he will not contest the next General Election.
However, when asked if he would reconsider this position if party leader Simon Harris asked him to serve at ministerial level, Mr Griffin said that he would give it consideration.
Mr Harris intends on speaking individually to all members of the parliamentary party in the near future, including those who have decided not to contest the next general election.
Mr Griffin has said that he has been asked on numerous occasions to reconsider running again, including by Mr Harris, but his positions remains the same.
Speaking earlier at a sod turning ceremony at the Kerry Technology Park in Tralee, Mr Griffin said nothing has changed since Thursday.
"I set out my stall on Thursday and nothing has changed since," the TD said referring to remarks on Radio Kerry that Mr Harris leadership would not mean a change of mind.
He added that some of the speculation in the media was flattering but he was happy with his decision to leave politics.
