Sinn Féin has selected Senator Lynn Boylan and Councillor Daithí Doolan as its candidates in next year's European Parliament elections for the Dublin constituency.

Ms Boylan said that she wanted to deliver change because "the housing crisis, the health crisis and the high cost-of-living are evidence that we need change."

Lynn Boylan has served as a senator since 2020 and was previously an MEP for the Dublin constituency from 2014 to 2019.

"Our future is [to] be at the forefront of creating a transformed, social European Union [EU] that is about improving people’s lives," she said.

She insisted that Europe must concern itself with advancing workers’ rights, environmental protections, social justice, ethical trade and research and development.

"This ambitious vision cannot be achieved by an EU that remains focused on militarisation, deregulation, privatisation, and the reflexive unleashing of austerity at times of economic crisis.

Daithí Doolan has served as a councillor on Dublin City Council on a number of occasions since 2004.

Mr Doolan said: "A vote for Sinn Féin in the European elections is a vote for strong representation, for people who will stand up for Irish interests and work with others for a better European Union.

"We also need MEPs who will bring the case for Irish unity to the European Parliament and will continue to lead from the front in building international support for a United Ireland," Mr Doolan said.
