Sinn Féin has claimed that the Government left Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly "hang out to dry" over the allocation of funds to health in the Budget.
The party's finance spokesman Pearse Doherty said the coalition gave the Department of Health "half of what they need to stand still".
During Leaders Questions, Mr Doherty told Tánaiste Micheál Martin: "Your own minister acknowledged you underfunded health."
He said the promise of additional beds had "melted away".
In response the Tánaiste said that 22,000 additional people were working in the health service since with Government was formed in 2020.
He added 60% of population now had a GP or medical card and that funding would increase for college place, training and ICU beds.
"You have not acknowledged the fact there has been unprecedent investment in our health service while there was a dramatic increases in attendances," Mr Martin said.
"Shouting and roaring about issues does not solve them," he told Mr Doherty.
Under Budget 2024, €22.5 billion was allocated for the public health system. Minister for Public Expenditure Paschal Donohoe said that this includes an €808 million increase in core current funding to address demographic and service pressures.
The Irish Medical Organisation described the Budget as a missed opportunity to invest in health services to meet the needs of the population.
