A new opinion poll suggests that support for Fine Gael and the Social Democrats has risen while Fianna Fáil has dropped slightly.

The Red C survey for the Business Post has found that Fine Gael is up one point to 22% - its first rise in this monthly series since November.

However, Fianna Fáil support has fallen two points to 15%.

The poll suggests that Sinn Féin remains the most popular party - unchanged at 31%.

Interviews were conducted with 1,005 people online from 17-22 March at a time when political discussion was dominated by the Government decision to end the eviction ban.

Independents are also down one point to 12%, while Green party support has dropped one point to 3%.

The Social Democrats are at 6%, a rise of two points - suggesting that the elevation of Holly Cairns to party leader has resulted in a bounce for the party.

Labour is unchanged on 4%, as is People Before Profit Solidarity on 3%.

Support for Aontú is unchanged on 2%, while others are at 2%, a rise of one point.

The margin of error in the poll is plus or minus 3%.
