'The negativity can be quite constant' - Anne Rabbitte

Minister of State for Disabilities Anne Rabbitte says she was not disappointed that she was not chosen to replace Dara Calleary as Minister for Agriculture.

She said that she threw her hat in the ring for the position, but said she is suited to her role in disability and is the right woman for the job.

Minister Rabbitte was speaking to Aisling Kenny for a special edition of RTÉ's Your Politics Podcast to discuss the lack of women in politics, despite the introduction of gender quotas.

She opens up about the difficulties she has experienced since becoming a politician, including negative comments on social media and receiving death threats.

The minister spoke about how she balances being a mother of three and being a politician.

She also talks about dealing with the death of her husband Paddy before entering politics.
