It has been a mixed week for the new Government.
After months of controversy it has delivered the Leaving Certificate results using calculated grades with only limited negative reaction so far.
The Leaving Cert represents a win for Taoiseach Micheál Martin and Minister for Education Norma Foley after a string of bad news stories of the new administration.
However, the Government still has to navigate the tricky challenge of the allocation of college places amid an escalation in grades.
But Micheál Martin hasn't had a chance to enjoy the Leaving Cert success because British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tried to undermine the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement by introducing legislation in Westminster designed to erode the basis of the deal.
At the same time the Government is grappling with the economic effects of Covid-19 and some industries are being hit harder than others.
