A Government spokesperson has said four Dáil by-elections are likely to be held in the last week in November.

At a meeting between party leaders last night a discussion took place on when the elections would take place in Wexford, Dublin Fingal, Dublin Mid West and Cork North Central.

The seats are vacant following the election of Mick Wallace, Clare Daly, Frances Fitzgerald and Billy Kelleher to the European Parliament earlier this year.

Separately, the spokesperson said the referendum on extending voting rights to Irish citizens living abroad in presidential elections would preferably take place next year.
