More than 2,100 providers have signed up to participate in the new National Childcare Scheme.
Minister for Children and Youth Affairs Katherine Zappone will update Government today on the scheme that is opening in October.
It is set to replace all previous targeted childcare initiatives with a single initiative to meet the cost of childcare.
It includes universal subsidies that are available to all families with children under three years old.
This subsidy is not means tested and provides 50 cent per hour towards the cost of a registered childcare place for up to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
Income assessed subsidies are also available to families with children aged between 24 weeks and 15 years.
This subsidy is means tested and will be calculated based on individual circumstances.
Parents will be able to apply online in October and the first subsidy payments will be made in November.
However, the scheme will not open to postal applications until January 2020.
