Taoiseach Leo Varadkar met Dún Laoghaire TD Maria Bailey this evening.
In relation to a civil case which Deputy Bailey is withdrawing from the courts, Fine Gael is undertaking an internal review to establish all facts, the party said in a statement.
The review will be undertaken by Senior Counsel David Kennedy.
Deputy Bailey has agreed to participate fully with the review, the statement said.
Fine Gael will not be making any further comment at this time.
Mr Varadkar told a parliamentary party meeting this evening that on a human level Ms Bailey deserved respect.
