The Dáil has passed controversial legislation to prohibit the import of Israeli goods produced in the occupied Palestinian territories by 78 votes to 45.
The Control of Economic Activity (Occupied Territories) Bill was initiated in the Seanad last year by Independent Senator Frances Black.
During earlier debates on the bill, the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney said the Attorney General had advised that the bill was not legally implementable because trade was an EU competence and not an Irish one.
The Bill was introduced in the Dáil by Fianna Fáil foreign affairs spokesman Niall Collins who described it as "a modest Bill that seeks to uphold international law".
Independent Alliance ministers Shane Ross, John Halligan and Finian McGrath abstained on the vote.
