Watch: Visitors damage crystal-covered chair in Italian museum

A museum in Italy has pleaded with visitors to respect art after a patron damaged a chair covered in crystals.

Palazzo Maffei in Verona published footage on its social accounts showing a couple taking photos of themselves pretending to sit on the chair.

The man then appears to slip and fall onto the chair, causing it to break.

The piece, called the 'Van Gough chair' was created by Italian artist Nicola Bolla and is covered in Swarovski crystals.

"We are sharing this episode not only for the sake of reporting, but to start a real campaign to raise awareness about the value of art and the respect it deserves," the museum said in Italian on Instagram.
