The Fido awards - the annual canine equivalent of the Academy Awards - were held in London yesterday, with the doggy star of 'Deadpool & Wolverine' getting her paws on the top global award.
Peggy the pugese - a pug and Chinese crested cross who lives in Yorkshire in northern England - was once crowned Britain's ugliest dog in a national contest.
But the Fidos named her as winner of the 'Best in World' award for her standout acting performance playing Dogpool in the movie alongside stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
Her star turn - and tongue - steals the show at several points in the film.
Mr Reynolds told Empire magazine that her part had started out as more of a cameo before growing into a "staple" of the movie.
"Everyone loves Peggy, and she's definitely got star quality when it comes to the silver screen," said Fidos organiser Toby Rose.
Unfortunately, as perhaps befits a diva of doggy acting, Peggy could not be there in person to accept the award as she is taking some well-deserved rest from promotional activities by enjoying a holiday with her owner.
Instead, she sent in a video message of thanks, voiced by owner Holly Middleton.
Another big winner on the day was the 'Romcom Rover' award, which went to the Havanese who makes a splash at a pool party in a key scene in the latest Bridget Jones film and is then rescued by the character played by actor Leo Woodall.
