High tides won't stop London pub from serving pints

A London pub sitting on the bank of the River Thames uses high tides to its advantage, serving drinks in the flooded beer garden to the amusement of its guests.

The White Cross, which refers to itself as "the pub that floods," does not close its doors during floods, which send water inside its garden four times a month.

Waiters put on wellington boots to serve pints to the guests outside, who either kick off their shoes or wear a pair of boots themselves.

Visiting the pub from Australia, with his feet touching the muddy London water, one customer said "what else can you do if you're going to be late home to your wife and you say 'the tide came in, I didn't want to get my new shoes wet'?"

The high tides at the pub came amid rain warnings which were in place all weekend.

A yellow alert is currently in place for parts of England, amid concerns that affected areas could see more than a month's worth of rain falling.
