All paws aboard!: Woof express gives disabled dogs their daily walks

An animal lover in Turkey's capital Ankara has built a train out of plastic barrels attached an ATV to give lifts to the disabled dogs she cares for at a shelter in Turkey's capital, Ankara.

Buket Ozgunlu, chairwoman of the Association of Paws Holding onto Life, said she takes the dogs for a ride everyday so they can see the world around them and feel the breeze in their fur.

She said the idea came to her when she got her paralysed father on car drives so he would not be stuck at home all day.

While the train was made of plastic barrels, Ms Ozgunlu and other shelter workers painted it in bright colours and are planning to add a tarpaulin to provide shade for the dogs.

"The ones who are disabled are more traumatised, they feel a different intensity of emotions," she said.

Ms Ozgunlu said the shelter currently cares for 560 animals, including 300 who are disabled - all of which were rescued from the streets, where they were often abused or hurt.
