The Washoe County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) in north Nevada released video showing one of its officers using a rope to free a bear that had become trapped inside a car.
The officers had received a call from a home in Incline Village after the residents had discovered that the bear was inside the vehicle.
WCSO said the officers coordinated a plan and were able to free the bear using a rope to open the car door from a safe distance.
According to WCSO, springtime is a vary active season for the bear population.
It urged members of the public to be "bear-aware" and avoid leaving food in cars or leaving rubbish with food waste or leftovers outside.
Nobody was injured in the incident, with just some damage to the interior of the car.
