The European Space Agency (ESA) said that the meteoroid was expected to "safely" strike Earth’s atmosphere between 3:50-4:03 CET, encouraging sky gazers to look out for it.
Witnesses to the event shared videos on social media, showing the asteroid creating a shooting star effect on the dark sky.

The ESA tweeted after the asteroid made impact, saying it was only the seventh time an asteroid had been discovered pre-impact.
