A Ukrainian couple celebrated their wedding amid the rubble and debris of war in Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city.

Anastasia Grachova and Anton Sokolov posed for photographs in streets littered with debris and framed by damaged buildings, with the bride wearing a white dress over black trousers and boots, a veil and flower headdress on her head.

The wedding was recorded by Kharkiv resident Maria Avdeeva, a research director at the European Expert Association

She said the couple's wedding ceremony took place in the city's underground metro station, attended by colleagues from a humanitarian centre where they both work.

Both medical workers in their pre-war lives, the couple now distribute medicines to people in need in Kharkiv.

The city's mayor attended the wedding, along with people living in the metro station, taking refuge from the war.
