Ukrainian violinist performs in Kharkiv bomb shelter

A Ukrainian violinist has recorded herself performing in a bomb shelter in the northeastern city of Kharkiv, during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Vera Lytovchenko, a violinist and teacher, posted a short video of the performance on social media, dedicating it to her late grandmother.

Ms Lytovchenko has garnered international attention after posting videos of recitals and performances in her building’s basement where she has been sheltering with other residents.

She has been quoted in media reports as saying that she thought her playing might lift the spirits of the other residents sheltering and take their minds off the war.
