A new species of lizard has been discovered by a team of scientists high up in the Peruvian Andes.
The new species, called Liolaemus warjantay, was found at an altitude of 4,500 metres in a protected area in the Arequipa region in southern Peru, according to a statement from the conservation authorities in Peru.
There are 280 species of Liolaemus lizards that have adapted to a wide range of habitats and are found across much of South America.
The new species was discovered by a team of scientists form Peru, Argentina, Chile and Bolivia.
