Punxsutawney Phil predicts six more weeks of winter

Every day feels like Groundhog Day at the moment for a lot of people, with Covid-19 restrictions meaning that much like Bill Murray in the movie of the same name it feels we are reliving the same day over and over again.

However today actually is Groundhog Day, and a virtual event was held in the town of Gobbler's Knob in Pennsylvania to mark the occasion.

In normal circumstances people flock to the town to see whether celebrated local resident Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow or not.

As avid cinema goers will know, if Phil the Groundhog sees his own shadow when he emerges from his burrow then there will be six more weeks of winter.

If he doesn't, it means we are in for an early spring.

Unfortunately - and unsurprisingly, given the current snowy conditions in Pennsylvania - Phil did indeed see his shadow, meaning another six weeks of winter.
