Sea foam covers roads as storm hits Cape Town

Heavy downpours and gale-force winds hit the South African city of Cape Town today, triggering severe weather warnings.

According to local media, strong winds downed several trees in residential areas and roofs were torn off after a powerful storm made landfall last night.

Videos showed huge waves on the coastline sending sea foam flying on to the road.

The storm also brought snow and a cold front, accompanied by gale-force winds of up to 100km/h.
