A timelapse video showing a man ageing over a 20-year period has gone viral in recent days.
New York-based photographer Noah Kalina began taking selfies every day on 11 January 2000.
Of course, when he started the project, his self-portraits wouldn't have been referred to as 'selfies’.
According to Oxford Dictionaries, the earliest known usage of the word selfie comes from an Australian online forum post from 2002, when Kalina was already a couple of years into his project.
The forum post reads: "Um, drunk at a mates 21st, I tripped ofer [sic] and landed lip first (with front teeth coming a very close second) on a set of steps.
"I had a hole about 1cm long right through my bottom lip. And sorry about the focus, it was a selfie."
