A catering cart spun out of control at Chicago's O’Hare International Airport in Chicago on Monday, narrowly missing a parked plane.

Local media reported that a fallen water crate had become jammed on the cart’s accelerator pedal, causing it to reverse out of control.

Luckily, a quick-thinking employee took command of another nearby vehicle, which he used to ram the cart clear of the aircraft.

The man, named as 57-year-old Jorge Manalang, has since been praised for averting damage to the plane, with an estimated value of $15m.

A passenger captured the incipient on camera from inside an overlooking terminal.
