Ethiopia has planted 350 million trees in one day to combat climate change and desertification, according to the government.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed led the "green campaign" and gave government employees time off to take part in the tree-planting initiative.

According to the UN, Ethiopia's forest coverage declined from 35% of total land in the 1900s to just over 4% in only 100 years.
