Workers from Austria's national rail company OeBB clearing a heavy snowfall on tracks near the Gesause National Park had to dig in to make an unusual rescue – freeing a trapped goat.
According to an OeBB spokesman, the train was travelling between the towns of Admont and Hieflau when the driver spotted an avalanche on the tracks at the entrance to the national park.
The train, driving at around 30km/h came to a halt.
The driver then saw a trapped chamois, the spokesman said by telephone.
The goat was lucky to have been discovered soon after it got trapped, because it would not have been able to free itself.
