On 22 August, heavy rain caused flash floods in the northwest. Bridges collapsed, homes and businesses were flooded, roads crumbled and cars were washed away by overflowing rivers.

The day after the flooding, RTÉ reporter Jackie Fox spoke to Damian Kerin in Buncrana, Co Donegal.

Neighbours rescued his parents from the family home as flood water gushed through the house.

His father Noel had just received a double lung transplant and was left sleeping on Damian's couch after the flooding.

Four months on, RTÉ’s Morning Ireland went back to Buncrana to see how Damian and his family are getting on.
