Before the wedding, groom Brian Houston exchanged some words with his wife-to-be Evelia Reyes through the border fence before officers opened up a gate dividing the two countries for an hour.
According to the groom, the US citizen could not enter into Tijuana for reasons he did not explain and his Mexican wife does not have a visa to visit the US.
The opening between San Diego and Tijuana has been dubbed the "Gate of Hope" by family members and loved ones separated by this border fence.

US President Donald Trump has vowed to extend such structures across the entire length of the international border.
