Gardaí are investigating the death of a 32-year-old woman whose body was found at a house in Ballincollig, Cork.
Her body was found at a house at Innismore Park in Ballincollig, a western suburb of the city, at around 5.30pm.
Gardaí said nobody else was in the house at the time the woman's body was discovered.
The area was sealed off and a local crime investigation team carried out a forensic and technical examination at the house.
The coroner has been notified and a garda family liaison officer has been assigned to support the family.
The woman's body was removed to the morgue at Cork University Hospital.
A post-mortem examination on the woman's body is expected to take place, the result of which will determine the course of the investigation. No arrests have been made.
Local Sinn Féin councillor Joe Lynch said his thoughts "go out to the victim and their family".
"This is a truly shocking incident, and it has caused major upset in what is a close, tight-knit community," Cllr Lynch said.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the Innishmore area of Ballincollig between 3pm yesterday and 5:30pm this evening, and who may have camera footage (including home security and dash-cam footage) to provide it to gardaí.
