A 24-year-old man is being treated in hospital for leg injuries which he received when he jumped from an upstairs window at his home in Cork after it had been targeted in an arson attack overnight.
The alarm was raised at 12.30am, when Cork City Fire Brigade were called to the scene at Silver Birch, off the Rochestown Road.
The two-storey terraced house was alight when four units responded to the call.
The young man was found injured on the ground outside the house. A woman in her 40s and a 13-year-old boy were rescued from the house.
All three were brought to hospital for observation. Their injuries are understood to be non-life threatening.
The fire was extinguished within 90 minutes.
The house has been preserved for a technical examination by gardaí, which is ongoing.
Detectives are trying to establish a motive and gardaí have confirmed that they are treating the fire as arson.
