Man, 70s, dies in single-car crash in Co Tipperary

A man in his 70s has died after a single-car crash in Co Tipperary.

The man was the sole occupant of the vehicle, which crashed on the R660 at Holycross at around 2.15pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick (UHL), where a post-mortem examination will be conducted.

The local coroner has also been notified.

A technical examination of the scene has been carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has since fully reopened.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam and were travelling on the R660 at Holycross around the time of the collision are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.

In a separate incident in Co Tipperary, five people were injured in a single-vehicle crash involving an SUV.

The crash happened at Toem near Cappawhite at 6.15am this morning.

Three men, aged in their 30s, and two women, aged in their 20s, suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

They were taken to UHL for treatment.

Gardaí are also appealing for witnesses in relation to this incident.
