Woman, 70s, dies following Co Kerry road crash

A woman in her 70s, who was injured in a road crash in Co Kerry last week, has died.

The single-vehicle crash occurred on 10 December at around 11.40pm on the N23 at Lisheenbaun in Castleisland.

The woman, who was travelling alone, was taken to University Hospital Kerry following the crash.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, particularly any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and who were travelling on the N23 in the Lisheenbaun, Castleisland area on 10 December between 11.20pm and 11.50pm, to contact Killarney Garda Station on 064 6671160, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.

The number of people who have died on Irish roads so far this year is 179, compared to a total of 175 for 2024.

Four people were killed in separate collisions at the weekend, including three people in Co Tipperary in over a 24 hour period.
