Man arrested in Co Clare over €100k drug seizure

A man in his 30s has been arrested in Co Clare in connection with the seizure of over €100,000 of cannabis at two properties in the county.

Gardaí attached to the Clare Divisional Drugs Unit conducted an intelligence-led operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs yesterday.

They searched a property in east Clare and seized approximately 5kg of suspected cannabis with an estimated value of €100,000.

A quantity of suspected cannabis with an estimated value of €15,00 was seized following a further search of a second property in east Clare.

A man was arrested and is detained at a garda station in Clare.

Investigating gardaí say the seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

This seizure forms part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, focused on disrupting, dismantling and prosecuting drug trafficking networks.
