Three held after vehicle enters Shannon Airport unauthorised area

Three people in their 20s have been arrested after a vehicle entered an unauthorised area of Shannon Airport.

The incident happened at the airport in Shannon, Co Clare, at around 9.30am this morning.

A group calling themselves "Palestine Action Éire" have claimed responsibility for the incident and said the aim was to disrupt US military flights.

Gardaí said the vehicle was intercepted by security agencies on duty including gardaí, the Defence Forces and the Airport Police Service.

Two men and one woman were arrested and are being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 in garda stations in Co Clare.

Investigations are ongoing.
