A murder investigation is under way in Cork after a 59-year-old woman died after being stabbed.
Her husband is in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
A 25-year-old man, who was known to the couple, has been arrested for questioning.
The woman has been named as Stella Gallagher. Her 62-year-old husband, Brian, is now stable in hospital.
Gardaí and emergency services were called to Shrewsbury Downs in Ballinlough, around 3km from Cork city centre, just after 9pm last night.
Concerned neighbours raised the alarm after Ms Gallagher and her husband were seen running from their home onto the street.

Both were stabbed a number of times by a man who was pursuing them. They were seriously injured.
Paramedics worked on Ms Gallagher for almost an hour at the scene, before she was brought to Cork University Hospital.
She was pronounced dead there before midnight.
Mr Gallagher underwent emergency surgery in Cork University Hospital last night.
His condition is described as serious but stable.
Gardaí arrested a 25-year-old man at the scene.
He has been detained under section four of the Criminal Justice Act. He can be questioned for up to 24 hours.
A local crime scene investigation team was conducting a technical and forensic examination at Ms Gallagher's home.
A nearby green area was searched by gardaí. House-to-house enquiries were also being conducted.
This afternoon, a post-mortem examination was conducted on Ms Gallagher's body at Cork University Hospital by Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster.
