The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) has said there are 147 patients on trolleys in University Hospital Limerick.
The organisation says there are 490 patients in total on trolleys in hospitals across the country.
Thirty-two people are on trolleys in Sligo, with 31 on trolleys in Dublin's St Vincent's and Cork University hospitals, the INMO reports.
The HSE TrolleyGar put the figure for people waiting on trolleys in the emergency department of UHL at 21, while it says that at 8am there were 52 people waiting on trolleys in wards.
It says a further five people are being treated in surge capacity.
The HSE TrolleyGar figures put the number of patients on trolleys in emergency departments and wards across the country at 327, with surge capacity in use for 408.
Surge capacity is defined as the number of additional inpatient beds in operation temporarily to meet demand, such as those on day wards and assessment units.
