A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car in Macroom, Co Cork.
The pedestrian in his 30s sustained serious injuries in the crash on the R582 at Gurteenroe, shortly after 2am.
He received medical treatment at the scene and was brought to Cork University Hospital.
Gardaí said occupants of the car did not require immediate medical attention.
The scene was preserved for a technical examination but the road has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Road users with camera footage, including dash-cam footage, who were travelling on the Millstreet Road Macroom between 1am and 2.15am this morning, have been asked to share this material with gardaí.
